Ceramics in San Marcos

The workshop starts by digging clay from a site outside of San Marcos.

Over the course of two days the clay is kneaded, then shaped into comales or plates.

On the third day, the comales are left to dry in the sun

while the workshop participants spend the day in a basketmaking workshop.

On the fourth day, the comales are finished in a dramatic outdoor firing.
